3 Toners You’ll Love | The Best In Affordable Skincare
by
/
Toner has been an integral part of my skincare routine for years. I religiously incorporate it into both morning and evening routines but use different ones for each. Before we go on, I must admit to being a bit of a skincare snob. When it comes to beauty, I typically find that the higher the price, the better it is. That’s why I’m so eager to recommend three affordable toners that don’t break the bank but that do really work.
THE MORNING ROUTINE
If you’re looking to save some pennies, I’d recommend introducing a more affordable one here. Whilst a good toner is always essential to restore the skins natural pH level, the morning routine is slightly less important. Your evening toner should have dealt with any major impurities left by makeup and pollution, leaving only excess oil or sweat formed overnight to battle in the morning. Typically, I look for simple and refreshing qualities in my morning toners.
L’OREAL FINE FLOWERS TONER | £3.99
The Fine Flowers Toner is designed for dry and sensitive skin, containing rose to sooth and jasmine to moisturise. My evening toners tend to be harsher, so using this in the morning ensures that my skin doesn’t dry out. The toner itself is a lot thicker than any I’ve used before, but applies gently and leaves my skin feeling lovely and fresh. I’m nearly at the end of my bottle and will certainly be repurchasing.
DAYTOX FACIAL TONIC | £10.00
This is another calming and moisturising toner, perfect for morning use. Its BioDtox inclusion: a blend of Aloe Vera, Broccoli and Citrus, claims to boost natural defences and stimulate detoxification of the skin. I find the effects of this very similar to those of the L’Oreal toner. It does, however, boast more natural ingredients and is a little more high-tech. I love having a little browse through the beauty aisle of Waitrose and it’s so handy to be able to pick up good skincare whilst doing my food shop.

THE EVENING ROUTINE
This routine should be more excessive for reasons already mentioned. I look for evening toners which boast more benefits. Typically I prefer ones which exfoliate and promote cell renewal for brighter and smoother skin.
THE ORDINARY GLYCOLIC ACID 7% TONING SOLUTION | £6.80
The Ordinary have become a cult skincare brand for offering high performance at lower prices. Glycolic acid mildly exfoliates the skin, boosting radiance and restoring clarity. It also contains ingredients to soothe and help any irritation associated with acid use. My evening toner staples are Pixis Glow Tonic and the Clinique Clarifying Lotion 2 but this one is very similar for a much more affordable price. This is the first ‘drugstore’ toner I’ve ever used which actually compares to my favourites. It also gives me enough confidence to rely on to remove every last trace of makeup.

I’ve tried a variety of affordable toners in the past but some broke me out and some were incredibly drying without providing any benefits. These three are the only ones I would currently recommend and which feature in my own skincare collection. With each under £10, there’s a considerable saving to be made by incorporating these into an otherwise luxury routine.
